The CMA CGM Dalila made its inaugural call at Port Tampa Bay on Wednesday, and Shooting Stars Post was there to capture all the action. The 1,096-foot-long container vessel is the first ship to arrive from the CMA CGM group, a global shipping and logistics company based in Marseilles, France. Tampa will be a weekly stop on a route that includes calls in China, Singapore, Vietnam, and South Korea, as well as Houston, New Orleans, and Miami.

The day started out on the Harbor Pilot’s Pilot Boat, taking our first aerial and video crew about 12 miles offshore to insert the Pilot aboard the Dalila and navigate the ship into the Port Tampa Bay. Our SSP Team captured this moment in the video below with both ships running at 12 knots.

Our Pilot Boat aerial team then captured video and stills of the Dalilia from a bird’s eye view, as the ship passed under the Skyway Bridge and continuing into Tampa Bay.

Our second aerial and video crew was also positioned at sea aboard one of the tugboats welcoming the Dalila to Port Tampa Bay. Our final crew was positioned on top of the Titan Silos, specifically the Titan America Tower at the south end of Port Tampa Bay, and shot time lapse video of the Dalila making its way into the Port.

Once the Dalila was docked, our crews captured time lapse, stills, aerials and video of the ship unloading its cargo using Port Tampa Bay’s post-Panamax gantry cranes.

Our SSP Team was also there to record the Press Conference that took place the following day, attended by dignitaries from CMA CGM, Ports America and Port Tampa Bay, as well as state and local officials.

Paul Anderson, Port Tampa Bay President/CEO said, “We are delighted to welcome CMA CGM to the Port Tampa Bay family. This is a further testament to the growth of the U.S. Gulf market and the significance of the Tampa Bay/I-4 corridor. This area is home to the state’s largest concentration of distribution centers and is now the heartbeat of Florida’s international trade.”
